With the changes in the modification workflow introduced in the Happy Valley release, you can no longer define template defaults for a variation without a template. Template defaults are now only valid for variations that actually use a template for their content. If your site has modifications that use template defaults (template data or content) without an actual template, you can no longer edit and save the variation content. You may end up with a variation like this if you, for example, try to activate or duplicate an old, inactive modification.
To be able to edit the variation content, you must first create a template for the variation, using the original variation content as a basis, and then select that template for the variation.
To create the template and select it for the variation:
- Copy the content from the original variation:
- In the Frosmo Control Panel, in the sidebar, select Modifications.
- In the modifications list, find the modification you want to edit, and click the modification name.
- In the Basic settings view, find the variation you want to edit, and click the variation name.
In the Define content view, copy the variation content.
Create a new template with the copied content:
- On the Modifications page, select the Templates tab.
- Click Create template.
- Enter a name for the template.
- In the Content field, paste the copied variation content.
- If the content uses Mustache tags as placeholders for values, define the necessary Content prerenderer and/or Content options schema for providing the final values with which to render the content on the page. For more information, see Creating and editing a template.
- When you're done, click Save.
- Assign the template to the variation:
- On the Modifications page, select the Overview tab.
- In the modifications list, find the modification you want to edit, and click the modification name.
- In the Basic settings view, find the variation you want to edit, and click the variation name.
In the variation settings, click Select type.
Select the template you just created.
- Click Select. You can now edit the existing template defaults or, if you defined a content options schema for the template, set the content options for the variation.
- When you're done, click Save.
